East Kelowna Wine Trail part 3
Our final winery on the East Kelowna wine trail is House of Rose Winery.
House of Rose wines boast some of the most unique names in the wine
industry. Be prepared to enjoy a true farm-gate wine tasting experience
in the rustic charm of an authentic grape picker's cabin or feel free to
wander the beautiful grounds. Relax in the picnic area while sharing
some wine and cheese.

Congratulations!
To Summerhill Pyramid Winery for winning Family Enterprise of the Year award!!
In 1986 Stephen Cipes a developer from New York bought the vineyards on Chute Lake Road in Kelowna and decided to make them organic as the pesticides and herbicides used on the property ultimately ended up down the hill in the Okanagan Lake.
Their first vintage of wine was in 1990 and the winery has been going strong ever since. Summerhill's wines have won numerous local, national and international awards. Their organic principles have led to accolades and recognition.
Summerhill has also generated a lot of publicity for its pyramid quirks. On the property there is a replica of an Egyptian pyramid where the wine is stored and aged. Pyramid Power is touted as making the vintages taste better.
I can say we were there yesterday and all the wines we tasted were pretty fine!

Sip and Enjoy Okanagan Wines
The Okanagan Valley is known for its spectacular vineyards producing premium quality wines that regularly win national and international wine competitions and recognition. Few wine-producing regions in the world can match our combination of mountains, lakes, fresh air and intense sunlight with so many grape varieties.
Kelowna is the birthplace of the Okanagan's wine tradition. Kelowna (and its surrounding area) features three separate winemaking regions. In Kelowna's winemaking regions, expect to find solid table wines and internationally-recognized distinctive reds, whites, rosés, sparkling wines, and icewines. Over 25 wineries are located in the Kelowna area with well over 120 wineries in the whole Okanagan Valley region. The sun-drenched valley surrounding Kelowna is dotted with farm-gate wineries too. Wine tours and tastings can last from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the winery. Many of the wineries have unique and delicious food services available. Gourmet regional cuisine, tapas-style fare or cheese and fruit platters are served either indoors or on patios, with spectacular lake and/or valley views. Reservations are not required. Tours are open to people of all ages, however those under the age of 19 are not permitted to taste the wine.
